I closed the "Welcome to My World" blog!<br /><br />Let me tell you why.<br /><br />When I started this blog, I wanted to share my views on life, etc. I wanted this blog to complement my other blogs which deal with my writing and efforts to become a published author. I wanted to provide a forum for sharing my opinions about things going on in the news, and issues of relevance to me as a gay man, as a writer, etc., that were not directly writing-related, but more on the personal experience side.<br /><br />Over time, I found I made relatively few posts to this blog. I also realized that my opinions, while perfectly valid as my opinions, would only serve to distract potential readers. Most artists who attain any real commercial success choose to remain very non-committal or diplomatic, so that they do not offend potential fans, listeners, readers, viewers, etc. Only some are outspoken, usually around a specific cause, one which they know will have its detractors but also legions of supporters. In other words, why turn off a potential reader with my opinions about something that I haven't written about in a novel?<br /><br />I asked myself this question once before, and even suspended all my postings on this blog, shutting it down for a while, until I decided what-the-heck and put it back up again. Well, that second-guessing bug has struck again. Only difference, this time I didn't just take the postings down for a while, I deleted them permanently. I am not ashamed of my opinions -- we all have to stand for something -- but I don't feel I realized my goals for this blog and as it stood in its present condition, it would only serve to distract from, not enhance, my good work on my other blogs and in my writing.<br /><br />This blog failed to reach the goals I had set for it mostly because I did not spend the time to develop it and write a sufficient number of postings, and work to generate the variety and depth of meaning that I had intended at the outset. This blog has always been peripheral, and a little too peripheral, ultimately bringing about its demise.<br /><br />No great loss, except for a few postings that I was particularly fond of, but nothing that is worth noting, even here.<br /><br />Will this blog ever be resurrected?<br /><br />Possibly. But probably not for a long while to come. When I am ready to systematically address the variety of issues that a blog of this type should, and commit to regular and substantial work on it, then I may yet make a fresh start. It may be in the form of a blog, or it may be in the form of a section of my web site.<br /><br />I am keeping this URL, as it is a good one, but otherwise this blog is, for the time being, out of commission.<br /><br />Thank you for visiting, and best wishes to all who blog about their opinions, that they may take the time and invest the effort needed to make their blogs worthwhile reading for all who visit.<br /><br /><span style="font-style:italic;">Adrian</span><br /><br />P.S.
